Acrylic on canvas with 4c gold leaf on canvas.
Anubis was the son of Isis. When Osiris was killed by Seth it was Anubis that travelled to the four corners of the world searching for Osiris body. He brought each piece back together and thus the term mummification was born. He helped resurrect Osiris who then became the god of the underworld, a much loved and respected god in Egyptian mythology. Anubis was then given the task to help lead Egyptians after their deathly depart to their judgment day. He weighed their heart against the feather of judgement on scales.I have always been incredibly fascinated with Egyptian mythology & how they worshipped these half human and animal humanoids. This was my own representation of the god Anubis. Who has the head of a jackal and body of a man. In one hand is the ankh staff, in the other the feather of judgement. There is a lot we still do to know about these god & goddesses but yet a lot we still can learn from them.
